Charleston, SC was founded in 1670 as Charlestown
or Charles Towne. The city moved to its present location in
1680 and adopted its present name in 1783. Charleston is well
known as the “Holy City”, due to the many churches

attraction. The building was found in 1771 and is the 3rd
most important colonial building in the nation.
