Charleston, SC was founded in 1670 as Charlestown or Charles Towne. The city moved to its present location in 1680 and adopted its present name in 1783. Charleston is well known as the “Holy City”, due to the many churches on the towns’ cityscape. It is the 2nd most populated city in South Carolina and the fastest growing city in central area. There are many tourists attraction in the city of Charleston. The Spoleto Festival USA is held annually, which is a 17 day art festival that features over 100 individual artists. With the city also known as the “Colonial City”, the Old Exchange and Customs House is also a major tourist’s attraction. The building was found in 1771 and is the 3rd most important colonial building in the nation.
